SyncMonitor is a tool for use with Commence Workgroup 4.0, or later, databases. Use SyncMonitor to monitor syncing in shared LAN directories. SyncMonitor offers immediate notification of client syncing failures and is well suited for keeping mission critical workgroups up to date and stable. Early detection of users who are not syncing properly is an important step in avoiding many workgroup sync problems.
SyncMonitor does not change your data.
SyncMonitor keeps track of the last sync request to the server from each user. This data is displayed visually on the screen by categorizing the length of time since the last sync request. Color-coded icons allow easy visual checking of sync status. As the elapsed time since the last sync request lengthens, the users change status and the icons change colors.
In addition to a screen display of user status, SyncMonitor may be set to send Email, Winpopup or DDE FireTrigger messages to Commence as well as execute a command line with arguments. These messages contain information about the status change and the user.
Set SyncMonitor to send regular reports or use the remote request feature for generating syncing reports from offsite.
When sync failures occur, use SyncMonitors troubleshooting tab to view the Commence active log for each user. SyncMonitor automatically identifies error codes within the displayed log and depending on the error type, points to the proper Commence technical note for a possible solution.
